I Interviewed Fatima, So I Wrote About It.
This is the segment of my blog that I've been VERY excited to share with you all! I will be interviewing creatives and creative organizations in Namibia that I LOVE so that it's easier for you to find the kind of creative you're looking for artistically, personality wise, where to find them and how to support them.
I'll be doing this in groups of 5, so keep your eyes open for the next 3.
You can find my first creative here.
Right, so this is my second creative, her name is Fatima
She's a painter. A pretty good one.

I found her on Instagram one day, fell in love with her work and luckily bumped into her at Cramer's. She asked me how I think she should best showcase her work online and I suggested Tumblr and proceeded to ask that while she figures that out, if I could tell everybody I know how bomb she is so here I am!
Hi Fatima!
Tell us how you fell
in love with painting?
Well, this question takes me way back to my childhood. It
all started with me being left out by my brother and cousin. They would usually
go for art classes at the College of the Arts (2009). And I thought to myself
why I am not attending these classes. I decided one afternoon go with them to
see what it’s all about that I am “left out of”. Surprisingly, that fateful day
I choose my destiny without me knowing. I instantly fell in love with the way
the art teacher taught the subject of arts. From that day I mentally made
myself a promise that I’ll be as good as he is of an artist and master his
technique of drawing and the freedom of expressing himself. Since that day my love for art began.
Are there any
painters that you look up to?

Definitely, my first ever art Teacher from the Collage of
the Arts. Sir Joshia. Then secondly my high school teacher, whom taught me the
psychology of arts. How our emotions can manipulate paper and manifest our
thoughts, truths and fears. Lastly but not least the incredible Hage Mukwendje
a Namibian Visual artist. He is constantly travelling Europe to attend art
workshops. He is a huge inspiration to be as he is a young Namibian just like
me. We have learnt a lot from each other and I would say he is my mentor, as I
can strongly relate to his artwork and technique.

Every time I envision the future, my mind goes crazy.
Literally. I want to eventually open my own arts and sports centre + Academy in
Windhoek. Thus meaning I have to start of small, as arts are not recognised in
Namibia. This makes me really sad and frustrated, because we have so much potential
among our youth waiting to be nourished and discovered. My establishment will
mainly focus on developing young artist’s talents and allowing them to express
themselves in every form and nature.
Do you have a muse?
I would say my source of inspiration comes from wanting to
inspire and motivate others. I tell myself I will paint or draw a specific
subject or object and from there I just let the creativity flow. It all starts
and ends in the mind. I believe whatever you give power to has power over you.
Describe your process
and prices so that anyone who wants to buy work from you knows EXACTLY what’s
up. Share some your best work?
I mainly focus on abstract portraiture. Thus I believe the
face is the main focus of a human being. My work is interpretative combined
with surrealism. I rarely take orders on artwork but feel free to give me ring.
What are your dreams
as a local painter? Where do you see it in a years’ time, in 5 years’ time?
Like I said, I want to open up my own ART studio and combine
it with an Arts and Sports Academy. Allowing children of all ages to come and
develop their skills and express themselves.
How can we contact
you and where can we stalk our work?
You can mainly find me on social media.
